GM India today officially launched the sedan version of it’s premium Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatchback- the Chevrolet Sail (sedan). The company had already put an end to all the speculations last week, by announcing on it’s official website  that the Chevrolet Sail sedan would be launched on February 1.

Available in both Petrol and Diesel variants, the  base petrol variant would cost  Rs.4.99 lakhs while the base diesel variant is priced at Rs.6,19 lakhs, both ex-showroom, Delhi.

The Sail sedan is essentially built on the Sail U-VA platform and it does seem like that GM has just added a boot to the premium hatchback, which was launched in November last year. Chevrolet claims that the Sail sedan has undergone 6.3 million km of testing, all across India and thus the new car is able to provide an optimum experience to it’s customers in any condition.

The Chevrolet Sail sedan falls in the B-Segment and has a tough task to take on the likes of segment leaders like Swift Dzire and Toyota Etios while the upcoming Honda Amaze would only make the road to success tough for the Sail sedan.

Coming to the engine options on the sail sedan, the petrol variant of the car gets powered by a 1.2-litre engine that produces a max power output of 86 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque, offering a fuel economy of 18.2 kmpl. The diesel variants of the Sail sedan is powered by a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet engine that churns out 78 PS of max power and 205 Nm of peak torque, giving a fuel economy of 22.1 kmpl (ARAI figures).

Both the Petrol and Diesel variants of the new Chevrolet Sail sedan get four trim levels each- Base, LS, LS ABS, LT ABS and gives you seven color options to choose from- Velvet Red, Switchblade Silver, Summit White, Caviar Black, Linen Beige, Sandrift Grey and Misty Lake. Also, the customers get a 3 year/45,000 km maintenance policy for the car itself along with a 5-year powertrain warranty for the engine and transmission.
