Finnish smartphone maker Nokia has
unveiled it’s latest pocket-friendly smartphone for the emerging
markets- the Asha 310 at a price of $102 and the smartphone will go on
sale sometime later in March. The Nokia Asha 310 is the first phone in
the Asha range to sport dual-SIM card slots as well as Wi-Fi support.
The Nokia Asha 310 boasts of a 3-inch
capacitive touchscreen display that has a resolution of 400 x 240 pixels
and a 2 megapixel primary camera, but sadly, there’s no front camera on
the smartphone. The Asha 310 comes with 128MB of internal storage which
can be expanded using a micro-SD card. Nokia also plans to bundle 2GB
and 4GB micro-SD cards along with the smartphone in select markets.
Along with Wi-Fi, the Nokia Asha 310
also features Bluetooth 3.0 for connectivity, and according to the
company the smartphone can give up to 17 hours of talktime or 25 days of
standby. The smartphone also offers some other neat features as it
offers 40 free game titles from EA, Nokia Maps, Nokia Store, Nokia
Xpress Browser which enhances the browsing speed on slow internet
connections, etc.
The low-cost Asha range of smartphones
have helped Nokia to stay afloat in the smartphone space as the Asha
smartphones have seen tremendous sales in the emerging markets like
India. Last month, Nokia announced it’s Q4 2012 results in which, the
company said that it had sold 9.3 million Asha phones in the fourth
quarter. Hoping to continue the trend with Nokia Asha 310, the company
said that the new phone would go on sale in Asia, India, the Middle
East, Africa and Brazil some later in Q1 2012 and the color options on
the device would include- Black, White and Golden light.
