Lava has launched a new phablet in the Indian market- the Xolo A1000 for a price of Rs.13,999 and the company hopes to take-on the likes of the newly launched Micromax A116 Canvas HD with the new device. The Lava Xolo A1000 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box and  is available via the popular online retailer Flipkart.

The Lava Xolo A1000 sports a 5-inch IPS display that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The device is powered by a 1GHz MediaTek NT6577 dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM and comes with 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a micro-SD card by up to 32GB.

The phablet gets a dual-SIM card slot (GSM + GSM) and houses an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a 1.2 megapixel front facing camera for video calling. For connectivity, the Lava Xolo A1000 gets Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB. The phablet also packs-in a 2,100mAh battery which according to the company, can give a talk time of up to 14 hours on 2G network and 10 hours on 3G network.

Though Lava hopes to challenge the might of Micromax Canvas HD with this device, it falls short on many levels and the most important factor being that the Xolo A1000 is powered by a dual-core processor, whereas the Micromax Canvas HD is powered by a quad-core processor. Moreover, since both the devices are available at the same price, it only makes sense to spend your hard earned money on a better device.
