Volkswagen India has announced an increase in the price of two of it’s top selling cars- the Polo and Vento by up to 2.27 percent with immediate effect. Volkswagen’s announcement to increase the price of it’s cars follows the similar price correction announced by other companies like Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Renault, Toyota and General Motors.
But unlike other companies which cite rise in input costs foreign exchange losses as the reason to increase the prices, Volkswagen says that it has incorporated new features inside both the cars which justifies the increase in price of both these models.
The company has replaced earlier RCD 310 music system on the Polo and Vento Highline with a new RCD 320 music system, which brings in an additional AUX-in port and an SD Card reader to the music system, which earlier was just equipped with USB and Bluetooth functionality.
Apart from the refreshed music system, the Polo also gets equipped with Climatronic auto AC, which was only available on the Vento till now.
Last year, Volkwagen India had launched face-lifted version of the Polo and the Vento in a bid to boost the sales of the cars but even that move failed to generate sales for the company as according to the data released by SIAM, sales of Volkwagen Vento dropped by 31.9 percent to 17,597 units as opposed to 25842 units in the April-December period while the sales of Volkswagen Polo also saw a downward trend as they dipped by about 9.8 percent to 25,640 units as opposed 28,427 units during the same period last year.
Commenting on hike, Arvind Saxena,MD, Volkswagen India said
Our aim has always been to give our customers a good value proposition and once again we are glad to be able to offer a good reason for them to buy these carlines.
