HCL announces the ME Y3 and ME U2 tablets, ME V1 phablet in India




HCL has announced it’s new lineup of ‘ME’ tablets in India at an event in New Delhi. Three new devices launched by HCL include the ME Y3 and the ME U2 tablets as well as the ME V1 phablet. All the three new tablets run on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

HCL ME Y3

The HCL ME Y3 is dual-SIM tablet priced at Rs.11,999 and sports a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The tablet is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor paired with 1GB DDR3 RAM. The ME Y3 houses a 3.2 megapixel camera at the back along with a 0.3 megapixel camera in the front for video calling and boasts of 4GB on internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB using a micro-SD card. You get all the standard connectivity features on the device like 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, Wi-Fi and also, Mini HDMI and Mini USB. The HCL ME Y3 packs-in a 3,100 mAh battery.

HCL ME U2

The HCL ME U2 is targeted at the entry-level tablet segment but still boasts of some impressive specifications. It comes with a 7-inch WVGA display and under the hood, is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor paired with 1GB DDR3 RAM along with Mali 400 GPU. The tablet misses out on a rear camera, but has a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera to cater to your video-calling needs. The ME U2 gets 4GB of internal storage along with a micro-SD card slot for storage expansion. Housing a 3,000mAh battery, the HCL gets 3G dongle support as well as Wi-Fi for connectivity, but surprisingly misses out on Bluetooth (that’s what the specs sheet says). The ME U2 tablet from HCL is priced at Rs.5,999.

HCL ME V1

The third device announced at the event was the HCL ME V1 phablet which comes with integrated voice receiver and integrated call vibrate option and built in EDGE Data support. Powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU paired with 1GB DDR 3 RAM, the tablet comes with 4GB of on-board storage along with a micro-SD card slot. The ME V1 gets a 2 megapixel camera at the back as well as a 0.3 megapixel camera on the front. For connectivity, it gets Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB and 3G data through USB. The ME V1 phablet gets a 3,200mAh battery.
