Microsoft launches Office 365 for Businesses in India

After announcing the Office 365 for consumers
in January, Microsoft India has today announced the availability of the
cloud-based Office 365 for businesses in India. The Office 365 from
Microsoft can be termed as a reinvention of the company’s flagship
Office product line. The new Office 365 brings along a plethora of new
features and integrates the user’s document with the cloud, which can be
accessed via various devices like PCs, smartphones and tablets.
The new Microsoft Office 365 includes
all the Office services like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote,
Access, Project and Visio along with the updated Microsoft Lync Online,
Exchange Online, Share Point Online. The Office 365 also brings-in the
social element to Office in the form of Yammer.
The Office 365 service can be installed
on up to five devices for a single user under the Office 365 licensing.
Microsoft says that Office 365 has been one of it’s fastest growing
businesses globally. Launched back in 2011, the service has been growing
rapidly and at present, one in five of Microsoft’s enterprise customers
worldwide use the paid service, up from one in seven a year ago.
Commenting at the launch of the new service, Mr. Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd., said,
In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, the
next generation Office 365 unlocks social and mobility scenarios that
will allow businesses and individuals to take full advantage of the
cloud. It gives them the freedom to do things, when, where and how they
want.
Microsoft says that the new Office 365
work equally good on smaller devices like tablets and smartphones as
well and the service is touch enabled, allowing users to easily create
and edit documents on tablets and smartphones, just like they would do
on a PC.
Microsoft also announced hat many big
companies like Lupin, Godrej Groups, Tata Communications and AEGON
Reliagare are amongst it’s new customers, joining the list of companies
who have now chosen Office 365.
Ramkumar Pichai, GM, Microsoft Office Division, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. says,
This release of Office brings to life the power of
next generation computing. It also reflects Microsoft’s commitment of
powering the newer work scenarios businesses are experiencing. While on
the one hand it is helping users simplify their work and get things
done, on the other it is helping IT managers stay in control of a
diverse environment created by a proliferation of devices.
