Major highlights of Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Mercedes-Benz, the much reckoned German luxury
car maker, seems all prepared for the launch of its highly anticipated premium
hatchback, the A-Class in the Indian auto industry. Sources have revealed that
the model will sparkle at the Indian showrooms on May 30, 2013. Reports have
stated that the A-Class will be the most affordable Mercedes-Benz model offered
to the Indian buyers as it will sit below the currently offered B-Class.
Reportedly, the A-Class hatchback happens to be
the second model, which has been designed on the company's new front-wheel drive
MFA platform. Interestingly, B-Class is the other model, which is produced on
the same platform. The auto maker has packed a number of advanced features
within the upcoming model, which are sure to leave the Indian buyers mesmerised.
Although A-Class will be the most affordable car from the product portfolio of
Mercedes-Benz in India, the model will be integrated with a number of safety
features like the company's all other models.
Attention Assist feature is the highlight of the
same, which assures that several active and passive safety systems work
simultaneously in order to improve the safety of the vehicle in almost all
situations. Industry experts are of a view that this feature is particularly
advantageous on long trips. It must be noted that between a speed bracket of
around 80 and 180 kmph, this system monitors the behaviour of the driver through
a number of sensors.
Another safety enhancement of the 2013 A-Class is
Active Bonnet, which lifts the height of the bonnet by almost 8.5 cm to reduce
the impact of injury, in case a pedestrian hits the front fascia of the model.
Interestingly, the Active Bonnet feature automatically deploys at a speed
bracket of between 25 kmph and 55 kmph. Along with Active Bonnet, the model also
comes equipped with seven standard airbags, which makes sure that its passengers
are provided with a crash protection during unwanted situations. Mercedes-Benz
has offered dual stage front airbags, window bags that are stretched from the A
to C pillars and a knee bag for the driver. In addition, the front seat side
bags are also offered on the A-Class that offers additional protection to the
driver.
Besides incorporating a plenty of safety
features, another major highlight of the model is its 7-speed dual clutch
gearbox. Interestingly, the upcoming model from Mercedes-Benz has been equipped
with a two separate transmission systems for even and odd gears, respectively.
Each of the gearbox has been also provided with an individual clutch of its own.
On the launch of a new model by the German auto maker, industry experts believe
that Mercedes-Benz is mulling towards achieving the top notch position in the
luxury car market of the Indian auto industry by the end of 2013.
