Google
started its Android journey with version 1.5 and subsequently evolved
it, the latest version being the Android 4.1 through 4.3 also called the
Jelly bean OS. And now Google will release the Android 4.4 version, pretty soon.
Rumors
about the next Android OS were in the news for quite some time, it was
also presumed that the 4.4 version would be called the Android Key Lime
Pie, but it seems Google has given all the rumors a break and called it,
KitKat. Google has created a page
that confirms the next ‘Android KitKat’ version. The page also shows a
brief history of all the versions that have been created. If the word
KitKat reminds you of the Nestle’s KitKat chocolate bar, well you are
right, in fact Google has partnered with Nestle and preferred calling
their next released as KitKat.
According
to Marc Vanlerberghe (Director Android Marketing), the tasty chocolate
has been their favorite ever since the Android was created and they
couldn’t imagine a better name. There is no word as to when this android
version will be released. Users will also get an opportunity to take
part in a competition and win prizes – 1000 Nexus 7 tablets to be won
and 50 million Android robot shaped KitKat bars.
